Yorkshire acquisition for road sweeper business
A Leicestershire-based provider of operated and self-drive road sweepers has acquired a Yorkshire counterpart.
Go Plant, headquartered in Ibstock, has purchased York-based road sweeper business Smallwoods as part of its continued expansion across the UK.
Go Plant, along with their sister company, Go Plant Fleet Services, currently operates a 4,700-strong fleet of contract hire, operated and self-drive specialist vehicles from 37 depots and service centres nationwide.
Smallwoods has a long history in York. Go Plant is now aiming to grow the company’s operation to six sweepers over the next year.
The Yorkshire satellite depot will be managed by John Wild, Yorkshire and North East regional manager, who brings with him years of experience in the road sweeping industry, along with a management and sales team.
Mark Gallimore, commercial director at Go Plant, said: “The opportunity to acquire Smallwoods represented a significant expansion in this area. The yard at Smallwoods is perfectly located between York and Pocklington, and this will give us a tremendous platform from which to further develop our offering across Yorkshire.
“We’ve been through a fantastic period of growth over the last few years, and our new Yorkshire satellite depot at Smallwoods will help us achieve our goals of offering a truly national service to our customers.”
