Imtech Triumphs at Industry Awards

Imtech are celebrating winning the Project of the Year Award for their work on the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Sustainable Chemistry at the Construction News Specialist Awards on 22 March 2017.

The award-winning project saw Imtech Engineering Services Central design, install and commission the full mechanical and electrical services at the unique, state-of-the-art building.

A particularly outstanding aspect of the project was that the team were able to demonstrate that the building can achieve a carbon neutral status within 25 years of operation. This was achieved by carefully selecting equipment and designing the systems to take into account minimum embodied carbon and maximum efficiency. Each component was then verified using a carbon calculator that accounted for all materials, methods of production and delivery.

The successful delivery of this project was a result of the excellent relationship cultivated between Imtech, Morgan Sindall and the end-user.

The judges on the Construction News awards panel commented:

‘This was exactly the kind of project the Specialists Awards are looking for, where a subcontractor is an integral part of the scheme from design, all the way up to delivery of its package of work – in this case, M&E.’

‘It was an impressive and unique project, delivered on time and to budget, despite some very significant challenges along the way.’

‘Imtech’s work on the Nottingham University Centre for Sustainable Chemistry was the clear winner. This was a very impressive project that came up with fantastic solutions to difficult problems and was delivered on time and to budget despite the fire halfway through’
